NEA’s ‘Focus On’ Publications

The National Education Association is committed to ensuring that ALL students are learning and succeeding in school. NEA’s “Focus On” publications highlight human and civil rights issues that impact education for five underserved communities:  American Indian/Alaska Native; Black; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender; Hispanic; Women and Girls.

Knowledge of students’ cultural background, history, community, and the issues they face every day can help educators close the achievement gaps among different student groups. Click on a title below to access the PDF.
